It's been a while, but I was inspired to blog about this subject.
I had been listening to music on my beloved iPod "Fred" and I remembered that there were some songs that, upon first hearing them, that they were sung by a black R&B artist.
So here's the list:
Please rise for the Internet National Anthem:
Yes my friends, you have been Rick Rolled, but if you close your eyes, wouldn't you think that Howdy Doody did NOT sing this song?
A song I had forgotten about, yet it's Simply Awesome, Simply Smooth, and Simply Red:
Who knew that this was the only Ginger in the world with Soul!
Here's a sappy love song from the 80s that I loved as a kid, mainly because
I thought the lady had a great voice. This dude however sounds like he's from
the African-American persuasion.
The dude on the keyboard is Sergio Mendes, not the dude singing. He's like the Tyler Perry
of his music. Isn't the star, but his name is all over it.
My boyfriend Robin Thicke...if I didn't know he was Mr. Seaver's real son, I would have sworn he is just a really pale black man.
I love this man. His music is amazing, and he was doing this before my other boyfriend, the also very white Justin Timberlake.
Much respect to white rappers who are real, as in the case of these guys. I freaking love this song and video:
The Motown Influence is strong with this one:
This didn't get much airplay here, and it should have. He's amazing.
Last one, and it kind of describes my life right now:
I've always loved this song, but if you read the lyrics carefully, this dude saw the forest (gump)
through the trees and saw how technology was going to run our lives.
This was fun. Do you have anyone that I missed?
Thanks for allowing me to Rick Roll you...not that you had a choice.
